Council Tax Support Scheme - Further Consultation

In August 2012 we launched a public consultation to ask your views about our preferred options for the new local scheme. This consultation ended on 22 October 2012. Thank you for your feedback, which has been summarised on this link: CTSS Communication and Consultation Campaign.pdf

Since the initial consultation additional funding has been offered by the Government to reduce the impact of the change to Local Council Tax Support Schemes on communities. The funding is for one year only and is payable to Councils who adopt local schemes that comply with criteria, set by the Government, to limit the impact of any proposed changes on vulnerable taxpayers. In light of this development we launched an additional consultation stage during December 2012 ending on the 7th January 2013. No submissions were made to this consultation.

Upcoming changes to the benefits system

Some big changes are happening to the benefits system.

If you receive benefits to help you pay your Council Tax or rent, the changes could reduce the amount of money you receive by up to £100 per month.
