Chesterfield Bank Holiday Fun

Maynard Flip Flap ‘Man in a Box’Visit Chesterfield Town Centre on August Bank Holiday Monday for music, comedy and a whole host of fun.  Walkabout characters will entertain the children in Chesterfield’s main market square including Maynard Flip Flap and his incredible ‘Man in a Box’ routine and ‘What a Palaver’ with their madcap fun and comedy routines.




Advantage – Queen’s Park Tennis Courts

Cllrs Keith Lomas and David Stone – Chesterfield Borough Council, Tom Franklin (of Viridor), Scott Webster (Chesterfield Borough Council, Sports Development Officer) and tennis club members Steve and Jacqueline Gill.Budding tennis players can now take advantage of the recently refurbished tennis courts at Queen’s Park Annexe in Chesterfield.  The £20,000 facelift includes a new macadam surface with coloured court markings, drainage, new tennis posts and nets and repairs to fencing.

Free Summer Swimming in Chesterfield

Free swimming continues in ChesterfieldChesterfield Borough Council has decided to continue with its free swimming initiative for the summer months, despite the removal of government funding for the scheme.  The funding of the Free Swim scheme, which is open to those aged 16 and under or 60 and over, will finish on 31st July but with the school summer holidays beginning next week, the Council felt it unfair that thousands of children and older people should miss out on their free swims.

 


Fast food outlet ordered to employ door staff

A Chesterfield town centre take-away has been ordered to employ a Security Industry Authority (SIA) registered door supervisor at its premises each Friday and Saturday night as one of six new conditions added to its licence by the Borough’s Licensing Committee.


Printability partner festival again for 2010

Chesterfield Borough Council and Partners of this year’s Festival launch the programme of events.Chesterfield Arts and Market Festival returns in October Half Term for its 7th year.  The annual event will run from Thursday 28 to Saturday 30 October 2010. The Festival offers a varied programme of entertainment for visitors and local people. Chesterfield Borough Council is proud to announce that for the third year running, local company Printability has signed up as the main Festival sponsor.

Chesterfield underwent its annual judging process for the East Midlands in Bloom competition on Friday.  Judges, Debbie Scott and Peter Benham, joined Cllr Ian Openshaw on a tour of the Borough and the town centre to view some of the town’s best floral assets.


Time to ‘Break Out’ this summer
