What is RSS?
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. It enables you to identify the type of web site information you interested in - and have it delivered directly to your computer.
We have set up an number of RSS services to keep you up-to-date with news and Council meetings. We will shortly be introducing RSS to let you know about new planning applications too.
How do I receive RSS updates?
The first thing you need is something called a 'news reader' or 'news aggregator'. This is a piece of software that checks RSS feeds and presents you with new information that has been added to them - all in a readable format.
How do I get a news reader?
There are many types of reader. Some work via your internet browser, whilst others operate as a standalone program or even plug into your e-mail software.
Don't be daunted by the technical-sounding name, RSS, or by the prospect of obtaining a news reader.
There is a lot of helpful information on the internet to help you get started. Find out more about RSS and news readers on the BBC website
