Chesterfield Museum and the Winding Wheel Theatre have received funding from Arts Council England to host a variety of museum exhibitions and a series of plays.

The programme starts in September 2024 and will run until August 2025. Arts Council England has provided £98,750 to fund the programme of creative and cultural activities for the community to enjoy while Chesterfield Museum and the Pomegranate Theatre are closed for a major renovation project.
Chesterfield Museum will be hosting exhibitions at partner venues across the borough including, the Assembly Rooms, Hasland Village Hall, Duckmanton Primary School and more.
Planned exhibitions will include Chesterfield Menagerie, Romans, Victorians, Tudors, Vikings, Medieval and a look at the ‘Extraordinary Women’ who put Chesterfield on the map.
All exhibitions will be free to attend and will include a range of activities to help visitors connect with the town’s history.
At the Winding Wheel Theatre, a series of plays have been programmed including contemporary stories like We’re Not Going Back which is about life during the 1984/85 miner’s strike and theatre classics like George Bernard Shaw’s Arms and the Man.
