Shop Front Improvement Grant Scheme

Businesses and charities in Staveley town centre who want to make improvements to their shop frontage could claim a Shop Front Improvement Grant.

We have provided funding and received applications that is equal to the total amount set aside for the Shop Front Improvement Grant scheme.

New applications to the fund are not currently being accepted, but we will update this page if the scheme reopens in the future.

The aim of the scheme is to support businesses with premises in Staveley town centre to:

  • improve the overall street scene by enhancing the quality and attractiveness of businesses
  • preserve and enhance the character of the conservation area within Staveley town centre and individual buildings
  • improve access to buildings
  • support and sustain the local economy by providing support to existing businesses to improve their own competitiveness

A wide range of improvements are covered by the grants including new signage, window replacements, repairs to brickwork, improving lighting or the addition of new security measures.

Small businesses or charities can receive 80% of the costs of improvements through the grant.

The scheme is funded through the Staveley Town Deal and managed by Chesterfield Borough Council. All applications must be submitted before April 2025.

You can express your interest in the scheme in case it reopens by contacting the project team directly by email at staveleyshopfronts@chesterfield.gov.uk.
