Traders from the inside of the Market Hall have moved into temporary units in New Square in preparation for the refurbishment. The 300 square metre temporary structure is open Monday to Saturday, 9 am-5 pm and is accommodating 14 of the affected Market Hall traders including the sweet shop, the wool stall, the Watch Box, the carpet and rug seller, the Phone Repair Centre, the nut shop, the newsagents, the shoe repairer, Scentiments perfumier, vacuum spares, the mobility shop, the slipper stall and the hosier.
Traders with shops on the outside of the Market Hall are open during the whole construction phase. However, 3 traders – Unit 34 Barbers, and butchers Hodkins and Elliots have relocated to shops on South Street. The Cheese Factor moved to a vacant shop a few doors up from their old unit, Country Crop has set up trading from the open air Market on the south side (Low Pavement) of the Market Hall and Gills Menswear are trading outside the Post Office on Monday and Thursday to Saturday.

The refurbished Market Hall is expected to open in Autumn 2013.
