Friends of Eastwood Park

The Friends of Eastwood Park, Hasland was convened in June 2006 following public meetings hosted by the Hasland and St. Leonards Community Forum.

The committee meets regularly, as required, in Hasland Working Men's Club.

The Aim of the group is: to encourage the use of Eastwood Park as a public leisure and recreation facility. This aim was drawn directly from the deeds when the park was given to the people of Chesterfield by Alderman Eastwood, in memory of his late father.

The Friends aim to organise a summer Community Gala Day, which showcases as many local groups and activities as choose to attend as well as promoting the park and the village hall within the community. Additionally The Friends aim to organise a Community Christmas Event, usually in conjunction with the Community Safety Team. This is a indoor event.

Occasionally, funding permitting, there may be the opportunity to organise other events.

The Friends work very closely with Hasland and St. Leonard's Community Forum, there is always a brief update of park related matters given to all Hasland and St. Leonard's Forum meetings.

The Friends maintain a close liaison with Chesterfield Borough Council, Leisure and Recreation, in an attempt to encourage the development of the park for the whole community.

The Friends can be contacted by phone on 077 082 35 377.

The website is to be found on: www.eastwoodpark.org.uk a new web manager is in place and will be updating the website during the autumn of 2012.
