Decent homes and improvement programmes

Decent homes and improvement programmes

We are responsible for making sure that all our housing has modern facilities and is maintained to a high standard.

We develop improvement programmes to meet the government’s Decent Homes Standard.

The team also provides technical advice to our repairs and neighbourhoods teams.

The programmes we manage include:

  • central heating programme
  • roof replacement
  • insulation
  • uPVC double glazed windows
  • external door replacement
  • external painting
  • kitchens
  • bathrooms
  • internal painting (to communal areas in flats and sheltered housing schemes)

Service standards for maintaining council housing and other assets

We carry out energy efficiency assessments of our properties to deliver affordable warmth to our tenants. We produce energy performance certificates for all of our new tenants and are committed to reducing energy usage by 30%.

We will bring as many as possible homes up to the Decent Homes Standard.

Once brought up to the Decent Homes Standard, we will maintain our properties to the standard.

We will carry out cyclical external maintenance check to homes every five years.

We will arrange for external painting to be carried out to homes every five years.

We will arrange for internal painting to be carried out to communal areas in flats and sheltered schemes every five years.

We will carry out annual fire risk assessments to all communal areas in flats and sheltered schemes.
