Are you an experienced climber or looking for a new activity to try as a family?Climbing Wall

Then why not try our 10.5 metre climbing wall at the Healthy Living Centre for size!

The climbing wall is suitable for all ages and abilities.

Our climbing wall has 17 lines, over 70 individual routes, all tope-roped and equipped with quick draws for lead climbing, four auto-belays, all on a variety of slabs, walls and overhangs. 

We also have a mixed route bouldering room.

Casual climbing is free for our active fitness members, or see our pay as you go prices.

Opening times

  • Monday to Friday 7am to 10pm
  • Saturday 9am to 7pm
  • Sunday  9am to 8pm

 

Covid-19 Climbing Wall update

Our climbing wall for experienced climbers only, who have registered or completed their induction with us. 

You must provide your own equipment as we will not have any available to hire. Equipment will be provided for Taster Sessions.

Arrive ready for your activity and no large bags will be permitted.
If you need to, please only bring a small personal bag with a pre-filled water bottle as the water fountains are not available.
There are set 90 minute session times to allow for cleaning breaks as well as a maximum capacity on each session. Please see our timetable to view session times.
All sessions will need to be booked in advance via reception, these are not available to book online.
 
Taster sessions 
Suitable for first time climbers of all ages from seven upwards, the session is run by one of our qualified instructors and gives you the chance to put on a harness, climb our wall and feel what it's like be up to 10.5 metres off the ground. If you enjoy the session children can then attend our children's climbing clubs and adults can book on for a full climbing induction.

Session times: Friday: 6.15pm - 7.15pm

 

Climbing induction: age 14 plus 

  • induction assessment Tuesday: 6pm to 7pm
  • induction course Tuesday 7.15pm to 9.15pm.

The induction and assessment are free for our active fitness members or see our pay as you go prices. A parent or guardian must remain on site if the climber is under eighteen. 

 

Climbing booster

Suitable for all abilities and levels to help you develop your climbing skills. From needing a belay partner to pushing grades or developing technique, this instructor staffed session will offer all the support and guidance you require.

Session time: Wednesday: 6.15pm to 7.45pm 

 

Pay as you climb

If you are new to the centre but an experienced climber you can take our climbing wall competency photo quiz (100% pass mark required). Once you pass you will need to fill in a registration and conditions of use form, then you are able to pay and climb whenever the wall is open.


Climbing for young people

Monkey Club for ages seven to 12 years old and Young Climbers Club aged 12 plus have been able to restart. Koala club will recommence from Wednesday 26th May.

These will run in four week blocks costing £24.80, bookable via reception which are non-transferable.

The climbing facility will be closed to the public during these sessions.

The sessions will take place at the following times:

  • Koala Club: Wednesday 5pm - 6pm
  • Monkey Club: Monday 4.30pm - 6pm, Friday 4.30pm - 6pm and Saturdays 9am – 10.30am
  • Young Climbers Club: Monday 6.15pm – 7.45pm and Saturdays 10.45am – 12.15pm

Participants need to come changed for the activity. Please make sure to send your child with a drink as water fountains are not available and a jumper / top (small bags only).

Climbing kit will be available as normal for participants who do not have their own kit.
