Get help with your bins

If there's no-one in your home that's able to put the bin out on collection day, we may be able to help.

Find out about:

Applying for an assisted bin collection

Let us know if you need help because you are elderly and infirm, disabled or have a health problem that prevents you from putting out your bin - and there is no-one else in your household that can put it out for you.

We will ask:

  • the reason you're not able to put your bin out
  • if there is anyone in your home aged 16 or over who can put your bin out
  • whether you need permanent or temporary help - such as while recovering from an illness, injury or operation, or a pregnancy-related condition

If you claim disability benefits we will ask you for your benefit reference number, and will ask if you have a Blue Badge.

We may need to contact you to discuss your request.

Extending a temporary assisted collection

If you already have a temporary assisted collection but are still unable to put out your bins yourself, you can ask us to extend it for longer.

We will need to know:

  • why you need the assisted collection to carry on
  • when you would like the assisted collection to be extended until
