Freedom of Information

Chesterfield Borough Council makes a large amount of information available to its citizens in an open and friendly way.

Information can be obtained through its website, leaflets and many other publications. The council wants Chesterfield's residents to have access to all the information they need so that they can become involved in the council's work.

Under the Freedom of Information Act, increased access to information from all public bodies has become routine, and part of the Act requires that we have a Publication Scheme.

Our Publication Scheme has been approved by the Information Commissioner, who is responsible for promoting good practice and ensuring compliance with Freedom of Information and Data Protection laws.

The scheme lists the information that will be published as a matter of course, the manner in which that information is published and if there is a charge for receiving that information.
