Crowds are expected to flock to Chesterfield to attend the 1940s market, a great event for all vintage fans.
The event is taking place on 10 April, from 10am to 4pm to tie in with Chesterfield’s much-loved Flea Market.
What’s happening and when
New Square
- Jane Darling – singer performing at: 10am to 10.40am, 11.30pm to 12.10pm, and 2pm to 2.40pm
- Johnny Victory – singer performing at: 10.45am to 11.15am, 1.10pm to 1.40pm, and 3pm to 3.30pm
Market Place
- display of classic cars, a vintage fire engine and military vehicles from 10am to 4pm
- 1940s mining displays from 10am to 4pm
- escape artist / glass walker performing at 10.45 to 11.10am, 1pm to 1.25pm, and 3pm to 3.25pm
- Laurel and Hardy magicians from 11am to 4pm
- walkabout vintage pilot performing at 12 noon to 12.30pm, 1pm to 1.30pm and 2pm to 2.30pm
Market Square (outside Santander)
- Natasha Harper – singer performing from 10.30am to 11am, 12.10pm to 12.40pm, and 1.30pm to 2pm
- Kyle Evans – singer performing from 11.20am to 11.50am, 1pm to 1.30pm, and 2.10pm to 2.40pm
- Post Offices through the years - this stand will offer an insight into the history of how the Post Office has progressed and how it supported the country and community throughout the 1940s, visit from 10am to 4pm
Market Hall
- Viva La Vintage – singer performing at: 10am to 10.30am, 11.45pm to 12.15pm, 1.30pm to 2pm and 3.15pm to 3.45pm
The Shambles
- Lady Lindy – singer performing at: 10.45am to 11.15am, 12.45pm to 1.15pm, 2.15pm to 2.45pm and 3.30pm to 4pm
Burlington Street
- The Daisy Belles – singers performing at: 10.15am to 10.45am, 12.15pm to 12.45pm, and 1.45pm to 2.15pm
Rykneld Square
- Kalamazoo Dance Band performing at: 11am to 11.45am, 1pm to 1.45pm, and 2.30pm to 3.15pm
Crooked Spire churchyard
- mini soldiers camp from 10am to 4pm and soldier drills at various intervals throughout the day
Those attending the event are encouraged to use public transport to travel into Chesterfield, if possible, but there is also plenty of parking available around the town centre too.
