We’re looking for a motivated and capable individual to join our Environmental Services department as part of the Waste Management Team.

This fixed term role offers the chance to work both independently and within a supportive, collaborative team.

As a Waste Services Officer, you’ll play a key role in managing household and commercial waste services across the borough. With several new waste initiatives underway, it’s an exciting time to join us and help shape the future of our service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to waste‑related enquiries from residents, businesses, councillors, and colleagues
  • Process service requests and maintain accurate documentation and records
  • Check and improve data quality across waste management systems
  • Carry out site visits to investigate issues or support service delivery
  • Liaise with contractors and internal teams to resolve operational matters
  • Support new waste initiatives and contribute to service improvements
  • Provide advice to businesses on trade waste services
  • Handle a wide range of tasks, from resolving missed clinical waste collections to supporting new service rollouts

 About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Self‑motivated and able to work independently when needed
  • Confident communicating with a wide range of people
  • Customer‑focused with a professional and friendly approach
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Comfortable using IT systems to support service delivery
  • Experienced in waste management or a related field (desirable)
  • Familiar with Salesforce CRM (advantageous but not essential)
