A by-election is set to take place in Staveley-North ward, Chesterfield, to fill two vacant seats following the passing of Councillor Steve Lismore and Councillor Paul Jacobs.
The by-election will take place on 7 May, with polling stations open from 7am to 10pm.
Residents who are registered to vote in Staveley North Ward will be eligible to participate.
The Notice of Election will be published on the Chesterfield Borough Council website on Monday 30 March, marking the beginning of the election process.
If you are a prospective candidate interested in taking part in the election, you must submit your nomination papers by 4pm on Thursday 9 April to meet the deadline, in line with electoral regulations.
Christine Durrant, Deputy Returning Officer, said: “Anyone interested in taking part in the election to become a councillor is encouraged to take part in this process.
“We are looking for two new councillors to join Chesterfield Borough Council in the Staveley North ward, to ensure that local people continue to have representation on the council from their communities.”
The deadline to register to vote in the election is midnight on Monday 20 April.
The deadline to register for a postal vote is 5pm on Thursday 21 April.
The deadline to register for a proxy or a voter authority certificate is 5pm on Thursday 28 April.

Voters will be required to show photo ID before they cast their vote – anyone without valid ID will be turned away and asked to return with ID. There are lots of different types of ID that can be accepted and voters without ID can get a free Voter Authority Certificate to cast their vote.
