Since April 2015, the introduction of the Care Act has changed the care and support for adults who are frail, disabled or have mental or physical disabilities.
The Care Act aims to make care and support more consistent across the country.
Changes include:
- the introduction of a single national eligibility threshold for care and support
- new duties to support people with information, advice and advocacy so they can plan to meet their needs
- having a cap on the care costs that people will face
- providing new protection to ensure no one goes without care if their care provider fails or goes out of business
Adult care issues are managed in Chesterfield by Derbyshire County Council.
