Waste management and drain clearing privacy notice

This privacy notice explains what information the council needs in order to deliver the waste management and drain cleaning services. 

In order to provide these services, it is necessary for the council to collect, store and process personal data relating to customers. 

Safeguards are in place to ensure that this data is kept secure and the privacy of individuals is protected.

We need to process your personal information if you make a complaint or request relating to your refuse collection or bins.

In order to provide this service, we may need to process some or all of the following categories of personal information:

Under data protection legislation, processing of this data is allowed because we have a statutory duty to provide a waste management service. This information is only processed where you have made an enquiry. We don’t process personal information for every address where we provide refuse collection services.

Categories of sensitive personal data and lawful basis

In order to provide certain aspects of the refuse collection service, we may need to process some or all of the following categories of sensitive personal information:

  • age and health information

Under data protection legislation, processing of your information is allowed because it is for reasons of substantial public interest. This information is only processed if you request an assisted collection.

Who we share your personal data with

Some information collected as part of the waste management service is passed to our partners who provide these services. This will only include contact details.

We need to process your personal information if you request drain clearing services from us.

Categories of personal data and lawful basis

In order to provide this service, we may need to process some or all of the following categories of personal information:

Under data protection legislation, processing of this data is allowed because it forms part of the performance of a contract.

Who we share your personal data with

In some circumstances, we may need to share information with Severn Trent Water or Yorkshire Water.
