The Northern Gateway project is part of a successful bid to the Sheffield City Region Infrastructure Fund (now known as the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority)
The grant totals £5.83 million and Chesterfield Borough Council has contributed £6.5 million to the scheme, with the Co-op redevelopment being paid for by the private sector.
