Behind the scenes tours
Guided tours will start at 10.30am, 11.30am, 12.30pm and 1.30pm.
Spaces on each tour will be limited so must be booked in advance. You can book your place by contacting the bereavement services team on 01246 345888 or emailing bereavement.services@chesterfield.gov.uk.
Charity presentations
A series of talks will take place throughout the day in the Chapel, each delivered by a charity:
- Young Lives vs Cancer - 10.15am
- Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide (SoBS) -11.15am
- Ashgate Hospice - 12.15pm
- Cruse Bereavement Support - 1.15pm
These sessions provide an opportunity to learn more about the services available locally and how each organisation supports the community.
Funeral directors’ displays
Several local funeral directors will be on site near the Chapel, each showcasing specialist vehicles, coffins and memorial items:
- Newbold Co op - hearse, floral displays, glitter coffin and cremated remains caskets
- J. R. Hoult & Grandson - Rolls Royce hearse and limousine, wicker coffin with traditional bier, memorial masonry
- Dignity Funerals - limousine, traditional wooden coffin and memorial jewellery
Visitors can also view the John Deere tractor and Gator buggy used by the gardening team to maintain the crematorium’s beautifully kept grounds, which have received multiple awards for their upkeep.
Complimentary refreshments
Free tea, coffee, juice, cakes and biscuits will be available throughout the day in the office building, offering a relaxed space to chat with staff, volunteers and charity representatives.
The open day is designed to be informative, supportive and welcoming for all ages.
