Decent Homes Standard

The Decent Homes Standard sets minimum standards for the condition of our homes, and provides guidance on what we need to do to ensure that our homes are decent.

To meet the Decent Homes Standard our homes must:

  • meet the current statutory minimum standard for housing - this means that the home does not pose a serious risk to health and safety to those that live there
  • be in a reasonable state of repair - this means that parts of the building which are old or not in good condition must be repaired or replaced
  • have reasonably modern facilities and services - this includes rooms like bathrooms and kitchens
  • provide a reasonable degree of thermal comfort - this means that the home has insulation and a heating system that works well
