We have put together some resources for how to stay warm and well in your home.
A cold home can affect anyone, but you may be more vulnerable to the effects of cold weather if you:
- are aged 65 or over
- are on a low income and cannot afford to heat your home
- have a long-term health condition or disability
- are pregnant
- have children under the age of five
If you are a homeowner on a low income or you have a disability, we can support you to access funding to make sure your boiler or gas fire is working properly.
You can also talk to us about making your home more energy efficient - this can help to reduce your energy bills and make your home feel warmer.
If you need help to stay warm during winter, you may be eligible for financial help from the government. Each scheme is different. You may receive payments automatically, a discount may be applied to your energy bill or you may have to claim. Find out more here:
The NHS and government websites provide useful information on staying warm and well, especially during the winter months. This includes checking if you are eligible for COVID and seasonal flu vaccinations and what to do if you feel unwell.
