Consultation on the future on local government in Derbyshire

The Government has announced significant changes to the way local council services are delivered in the future - referred to as ‘local government reorganisation’.

A proposal has been produced by Derbyshire’s eight district and borough councils, together with Derby City Council, which would see the 10 councils that provide services across the county replaced with two councils – one covering the north of the county, and one covering the south.

We’re now asking for people’s views on the proposal as part of a public consultation running between Monday 30 June and Sunday 10 August 2025.

Your views will be used to shape our final proposal to the Government in November 2025.
