Freehold ownership reverted to Chesterfield Borough Council on 5 June 2022 upon expiry of a 99-year lease term, which began on 6 June 1923.  The former tenant no longer has a legal interest in the property although they still receive an annual rent of £5,200 per annum from the subtenant/occupier of the takeaway, which is let on a short-term lease. 

The sale is subject to the buyer resolving the situation to put the tenancy arrangements on a formal footing.
