An exhibition telling the amazing stories of local women, presented in partnership with Derbyshire LGBT+ and exploring ideas of feminine identity. Featuring 'If the Shoe Fits...' original artworks created by Chesterfield College Art and Design students.
The free exhibition looks at the lives of pioneering women who have played a significant role in the history of Chesterfield, including Mary Swanwick, Violet Markham, Florence Robinson, and more.
It will feature stories from across the community as well as various interactive activities, including a sound board of famous voices, writing about an inspirational woman, and designing a shoe that reflects you.
Funded through Arts Council England, the exhibition forms part of the Museum on the Move project, which aims to help people connect with the borough’s history while Stephenson Memorial Hall is closed for refurbishment.
There will also be a printmaking workshop on Saturday 1 March and a codebreaking workshop on Saturday 15 March which are free to take part in.
