We are looking for an experienced museum collections officer to join the cultural services team as we prepare to open a new museum at the 1435 Theatre and Museum in 2026.
Alongside another collections officer, you will be responsible for the care and conservation and the management of Chesterfield Museum’s collections, in line with current curatorial standards, and to make the collections more accessible to a wider audience.
You will have a degree in a relevant discipline, and a post-graduate museum studies qualification (curatorial). You will have effective oral and written interpersonal and communication skills, and good research skills . You will have a working knowledge of the Museum Accreditation Scheme, and awareness of emergency planning for museum collections.
The successful candidate should have good IT skills, including the use of museum record keeping systems, and knowledge of the SPECTRUM standards for museum documentation. You will have experience of 2D and 3D design and execution for museum displays and exhibitions.
