If you would like an accessible version of a job description then please contact the Human Resources team.

Working within friendly, busy and supportive teams. You will be supported to deliver a range of administrative duties to assist the team in the delivery of a corporate landlord approach embracing new technology, developing planned maintenance, property improvements and decarbonisation of the council’s property portfolio.

You will work with and alongside a small team to support them in activities including the use of software systems to monitor work requests, orders and invoices to support the council's vision, strategy and delivery plans.

What do we offer?

Our apprentices are never on their own; you will benefit from a supportive environment working in collaboration with the rest of our committed team and you will join our growing network of apprentices within the council. You will also have the opportunity to become an apprenticeship ambassador for the council, supporting Chesterfield’s ‘Apprenticeships First’ approach.

We will provide you with a welcoming and inclusive workplace, offering support and development opportunities that will enable you to progress and do your best work. We recognise diversity as our strength, vital for innovation and creativity, and we aspire to build a truly diverse community, which values and respects every individual’s unique contribution.

Who do we want?

We want to recruit an apprentice who will relish the opportunity of the support and training on offer at the start of their career in the area of administration. You will need to have a proactive and positive outlook, a good customer focus and interpersonal skills with a commitment to your own personal development. Also, you will be flexible, methodical, organised and be open to change.

You will need to have the following:

  • Level 2 Maths and English
  • good IT skills and experience of Microsoft Office

If you have completed another apprenticeship or qualification it must be at a lower level or in a completely different subject area to the apprenticeship you are applying for. If you are successful in your application, you must not be in receipt of or attending any other funded training or signed to another apprenticeship.

Finally, we need you to bring a positive can-do attitude and we will help you make this role your own.

What’s in it for me?

The apprenticeship gives you the opportunity to learn different areas of the Council where you can gain relevant experience and knowledge to enable you to complete the apprenticeship more effectively.

You will receive:

  • the National Minimum Wage depending on age
  • the opportunity to gain a recognised qualification over 18 months: Level 3 Business Administration
  • flexible working hours to achieve a healthy work life balance
  • access to the Local Government pension scheme
  • training opportunities to assist in your personal development
