We are looking for a dedicated and highly motivated, experienced Quantity Surveyor, preferably with previous experience in housing.

Playing a key role within the Housing Investment and Delivery team, you will be working alongside other multi-disciplinary design and technical teams, providing a full quantity surveying service to effectively achieve delivery of the Housing Capital Programme, which includes decent homes, capital works, and new build housing within the borough.

Your role in relation to the council’s capital program will also include providing cost estimates, scheme advice, and cost planning to ensure that the council achieves good value for money.

Based within the council’s Housing Service, you will have responsibility for the undertaking of a full range of pre- and post-contract quantity surveying services and budget management, including assisting with procurement and the development of construction contracts and framework agreements.

We are specifically looking for candidates with either a degree in Quantity Surveying or a minimum of five years relevant experience alongside a construction-related degree.

With excellent communication skills, you will have experience managing a mixed workload, the ability to manage competing priorities, a good understanding of health and safety legislation, and a sound knowledge of current construction and housing issues.

Working in local government is a highly satisfying and rewarding experience in so many ways, and the council is an excellent employer with rewarding conditions of service that include generous leave entitlement, a local government pension scheme, as well as many other benefits, plus learning and development opportunities that will offer the chance to progress your career further.
