As part of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004, as amended, Local Planning Authorities must prepare a 'Local Plan Timetable'.
The Local Plan Timetable shows our programme for producing the Local Plan. The latest timetable is available below.
The new Local Plan is now being prepared under the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2026, published in March 2026.

Scoping Consultation
a) Notice of intention to commence local plan preparation available under regulation 19(1) - 20 May 2026
b) Notice of scoping consultation available under regulation 20(1)(b) - 15 June 2026
c) Date on or before which representations will have to be received by the local planning authority in accordance with regulation 20(4) (scoping consultation) - 12 July 2026
d) Gateway 1 (self-assessment) - summary available under regulation 21(3) - 21 September 2026
Consultation on content and evidence
e) Notice of plan content and evidence consultation available under regulation 23(1)(a) - 23 November 2026
f) Date on or before which representations will have to be received by the local planning authority in accordance with regulation 23(4) - 11 January 2027
g) Gateway 2 - date on which observations and advice will be sought from Planning Inspectorate under section 15CA(3) of the Act in accordance with regulation 26 - 26 February 2027
Consultation on proposed Local Plan
h) Notice of proposed local plan consultation available under regulation 27(1)(a) - 26 July 2027
i) Date on or before which representations will have to be received by the local planning authority in accordance with regulation 27(4) - 26 September 2027
j) Gateway 3 - date on which observations and advice will be sought under section 15CA(3) of the Act in accordance with regulation 31 - 11 October 2027
Examination in public and adoption
k) Submission of proposed local plan to the Secretary of State for independent examination under section 15D(1) of the Act - 8 November 2027
l) Adoption of proposed local plan under section 15EA of the Act - 19 July 2028
