Swimming

Swimming is one of the safest forms of exercise. It is low impact, it provides good cardiovascular benefits and allows expectant mums to feel weightless in the water. It also poses very low risk of injury.

Parents that swam regularly before pregnancy, they should be able to continue as normal. If parents didn’t swim or exercise at all, they should still be able to exercise, but are asked to check with their midwife, GP or health visitor first. Parents need to make sure they start slowly, don’t over-exert themselves, and remember to stay well hydrated.
