Lifesaving lessons and courses

Our lifesaving courses help young swimmers learn vital water survival and lifesaving skills.

Survival Squaddies

Survival Squaddies training is aimed at children in stage five and above.

These sessions are based around swim ability and is not dependent on age.

Children will learn about danger awareness, self-rescue and vital survival skills in clothes. This introduces children to the lifesaving pathway and gets them ready for rookie one.

Survival Squaddies (in addition to swimming lessons)

This session can be taken in addition to a child's weekly swimming lessons or as an alternate route into our lifesaving pathway which currently starts with Rookie Lifeguard for children aged 8+.

Survival Squaddies requirements

All children in our stage five lessons have been put through Water Safety award one in preparation for Survival Squaddies. Stage six children and above have all completed the necessary requirements for Water Safety one, so these children can automatically go straight into Survival Squaddies.

Rookie Lifeguard

The Rookie Lifeguard programme is a fun and exciting lifesaving awards scheme for children age 8 to 12 years old.

The sessions teach children to be safe in the water through; self-rescue, survival rescue and lifesaving sport skills.

Children can progress through four different awards; Bronze, Silver, Gold and Master.

Survive and Save

Survive and Save develops essential lifesaving skills and swimming fitness.

The awards are challenging but fun to complete and are arranged into Bronze, Silver and Gold levels to ensure that participants continue to develop lifesaving skills as they progress through the awards.

The awards teach; CPR, water safety, self-rescue, survival, rescue and lifesaving sport skills and also develop swimming ability and fitness.
