The Electoral Administration Act 2006 introduced a duty for all polling districts and polling places to be reviewed every four years.
Chesterfield Borough Council is required to carry out a full review of the arrangements under which its area is divided into polling districts and by which polling places are provided within those districts. The review covers both the whole area governed by the Borough Council and any parliamentary constituencies that come within it.
In undertaking the Review, which commenced on 23 September 2024, the council must ensure that:
- electors in the constituency have such reasonable facilities for voting as are practicable in the circumstances
- as far as is reasonable and practicable, the polling places they are responsible for are accessible to all electors, and when considering the designation of a polling place, must have regard to the accessibility needs of disabled persons
Please see the Notice of Polling Districts and Polling Places Review below for further information on the review.
The council has produced a consultation document which explains the purpose of the review. For each borough ward, a map has been produced identifying the relevant polling districts, and polling places/stations. A link to each map can be found below.
As part of the review, the (Acting) Returning Officer has published a Schedule of the Proposals of Polling Districts and Polling Stations.
