Chesterfield Borough Council is teaming up with Derbyshire Wildlife Trust to ask you to ‘plan for nature’ this Spring and take part in our Climate Action Challenge.
Everyone who enters will have the chance to win a £50 Love to Shop Voucher, as well as a year’s membership to Derbyshire Wildlife Trust.
Following Derbyshire Wildlife Trust attending the Chesterfield Climate Change Forum meeting on 7 May, in which discussions focussed on the opportunity to enhance green spaces and bodies of water across the borough – linking nature to both social and economic wellbeing for residents and communities - we are launching our first ‘climate action challenge’ and encourage everyone to get involved.
We are asking everyone to take part in one of three nature activities, and send in a picture of what they have created to be in with a chance to win. The three challenge activities are:
- Go Potty
- Bring Birds Back
- Pond in a Pot
The Climate Action Challenge is open from 8 May to 9 June 2025.

The Chesterfield Borough Council Climate Change Forum meets regularly and members who attended the meeting in May will be taking ideas such as those included in this challenge back to their local community groups or organisations, to inspire others to plan for nature throughout Derbyshire.
Chesterfield Borough Council’s Climate Change Delivery Plan for 2025 to 2026 includes information about our aspirations to further develop plans for climate friendly land management including the Council’s woodland, grassland, and opportunities for carbon sequestration and storage. We are also seeking to agree actions to conserve and enhance biodiversity by building on the recommendations in the Council's Plan for Nature report.
