We have adopted the Designing Out Crime Supplementary Planning Document (SPD).
This SPD provides clear guidance for developers and planners, to ensure that development proposals incorporate the principles of designing out crime.
The advice should be used to:
- provide guidelines for the design of safe and successful developments in a sustainable way
- improve and encourage good design in the built environment to discourage anti social behaviour and reduce opportunities for people with criminal intent to commit crime
- encourage the introduction of sensitively designed security measures which integrate with the existing local CCTV network and protect the historic environment
- improve safety for users of the built environment at all times
